Member-owned organisation CUA has been recognised for its commitment to workplace equality for the 3rd consecutive year, today being named as a recipient of the 2016 Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation.

CUA is among more than 100 organisations across a broad range of industries and sectors nationally to be recognised this year with a citation from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. The citation recognises employer commitment and best practice in promoting gender equality in Australian workplaces.

CUA Chief Executive Officer Rob Goudswaard said he was proud of CUA’s continued commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

“Diversity and inclusion at CUA is much broader than gender and pay equity – for us it also extends to cultural diversity and religious beliefs, age, experience, catering to a geographically dispersed workforce and being able to support indigenous and community issues,” he said.

“Ultimately, there should be no barrier to any individual reaching a leadership role at CUA if they have the talent and skills required for the role.”

Mr Goudswaard said CUA had worked hard to establish opportunities to identify and develop talent across CUA, both male and female.

“We’ve supported initiatives like the Women in Banking and Finance mentor program, in which I personally participated this year as a mentor,” he said.

“We also remain committed to our CUA Diversity Council, an internal body which provides an opportunity for a broad cross-section of team members to play a role in developing CUA’s diversity and inclusion agenda.

“The award is also a demonstration of CUA’s Purpose, to work with members through the changes in their lives for mutual good.  This purpose guides us in our everyday work practices.”
