CUA signs new Brisbane headquarters at 300 George Street

building in city

Australia’s largest customer owned bank has just signed the lease on new Brisbane headquarters at 300 George St complete with signage rights for the new company name of Great Southern Bank.

CUA is changing its name to Great Southern Bank from June 2021 and will begin the move from the existing headquarters on Ann St from July 2022.

“With our purpose driven strategy of helping all Australians own their own home, it was the perfect time for our company to also find its own new home.” says Chief Executive Officer Paul Lewis. “We are looking forward to seeing our new name of Great Southern Bank and our new logo up in lights at the top of the building.”

The new headquarters will house around 800 employees and is designed with the learnings from COVID-19 around remote working taken firmly into consideration.

The lease includes 5,680 square metres of office space across three levels with an option to increase floor space in the future.

“Our new head office will provide the collaborative space and technologies to set us up for the workforce of the future and will benefit our customers through increased productivity and better products,” says Mr Lewis.

“Reports about the end of the office have been exaggerated, but there does need to be a rebalancing.  Just as we’ve been doing over the last year, even post the pandemic, the trick will be to marry flexibility with the very real benefits of a physical office.”

Improvements in the new workspace will include:

  • Video conferencing in more meeting rooms with drop-in work points available for visiting team members.
  • Lower costs from reduced rental and more efficient energy plant and equipment.
  • More digitised processes and a paper-lite office are also part of future plans.
